Gilbert Tosta, 88, of Jersey City, entered into eternal rest on August 2, 2012 at Christ Hospital, Jersey City.  Born on April 27, 1924 in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras to General Vicente Tosta, former President of Honduras, and Julia Tabora, and emigrated to the United States in 1952.  Before moving to the United States, he married the love of his life, Marina, on February 28, 1951 to whom he was married to for 61 years.  Gilbert was a proud United States Merchant Marine.  He was an operating engineer with the Jersey City Public Schools prior to retiring.  Once retired, he and his wife enjoyed traveling.  A proud community activist, Gilbert was a founding member of PREP, active with PACO, and started the Honduran Club of Jersey City.  He was a member of the Legion of Mary at Saint Mary's Church, and was a devout parishioner of Saint Peter's Church, Jersey City, prior to its closing.  One of Gilbert's proudest achievements was sponsoring many family members and friends in becoming American citizens, allowing them to follow in his footsteps.  Surviving Gilbert are his beloved wife Marina (nee: Carranza), his loving children, Lorena Zuber (Robert), Marilyn Tosta-Davila(Luis), Gilbert Tosta, Jr., and Nelson E. Tosta (Norma), his endeared siblings, Jose Tabora, Ramon "Moncho" Contreras, and many other siblings residing in Honduras.  Gilbert will especially be missed by his loving grandchildren, Melissa Miller, Maritza Fuget, and Robert Zuber, Jr., and his three great-grandchildren, Alyssa Nicole Harrison, Tyler Joshua Fuget, and Ashton Benton Miller.  Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m. at the Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home, 143 Brunswick Street, Jersey City, NJ.  All are invited to return to the funeral home on Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. for the funeral.  A funeral mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Mary's Church, Jersey City.  Mausoleum entombment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery Mausoleum, Jersey City, NJ.  To offer your condolences to the family or to send flowers, please visit: www.IntrocasoAngeloFH.com.
