Edita Mercedes Lara (née Baez), 74 year of age, of Jersey City entered into eternal life on on
Wednesday April 12, 2017 at her home. Born in San José de las Matas, of the Santiago province Dominican Republic on September 26, 1942 and emigrated to Jersey City in 1962 where she remained until her death.
In 1964 she, along with her husband William opened the
Willar Furniture & Cover Company on Grove Street, Jersey
City. Both icons of the downtown business and cultural
community, the business they built remains a thriving staple
of Grove Street.
She was predeceased in 2016 by her husband of 45 years,
William Armando Lara and is survived by her daughters
Yesenia and her husband John Reichart of Summit NJ,
Julissa Lara of Lodi NJ, and Judy Lara of Jersey City.
Step Daughter Natacha Lara-Viard of Miami, Cherished
grandmother of Sophie-Anne, Sebastien and Sabrina
Viard, Marcus & Olivia Reichart, Gabriela Lara and Step
Granddaughter Christina Reichart.
Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2017 from
2:00pm to 6:00pm at the Introcaso-Angelo Funeral Home, 143
Brunswick Street, Jersey City, NJ. Please assemble directly at
Holy Rosary Church, Jersey City, where a mass of Christian
Burial will be offered on Monday April 17, 2017 at 10:30am. A
cremation will be held privately.
